National AmeriCorps Week 2013

It’s National AmeriCorps Week — a time to celebrate 19 years of the AmeriCorps program and the hours of service current members and alumni have given since 1994.

The Coalition has utilized AmeriCorps members through the North Florida Health Corps to expand services to the community since the Health Corps launched in Jacksonville. NFHC AmeriCorps members serve 46 weeks in health care or public health settings throughout the First Coast, fulfilling unmet health care needs and decreasing disparities.

Members at the Coalition have worked on projects like Healthy Start provider outreach, fatherhood initatives, the 4Me! Teen Health Project, Make a Noise! Make a Difference! Lay Health Advocate intervention, Florida KidCare outreach, Magnolia Project outreach and the Jacksonville Birthing Project.
