This blog post is from our Baby Buggy Walk in the Park sponsor, Brooks Rehab for National Infant Mortality Awareness Month.
Brooks Rehabilitation is proud to offer rehabilitation specialties for all individuals across the lifespan. Learn about their pediatric and women’s health services.
Pediatric Rehabilitation
Brooks Rehabilitation provides pediatric rehabilitation through our rehabilitation hospital and outpatient clinics. Our clinicians are skilled in a variety of treatment techniques and devoted specifically to pediatrics.
Our outpatient pediatric program provides therapeutic services to children with neurological, physical, developmental and learning disabilities. We offer occupational, physical, and speech/language therapy in multiple locations across the Jacksonville/St. Augustine area.
We value the family’s participation and recognize the importance of their role in the progress of the child. Brooks Rehabilitation strives to empower families in order to assist their child at home through play activities, education and access to community resources. Brooks is proud to offer free developmental screening to children 1 month – 5 ½ years old.
Women’s Health
Brooks Rehabilitation has trained physical therapists specialized in woman’s health issues including pelvic girdle and low back pain related to pregnancy/postpartum, incontinence, and pelvic pain.
Pelvic pain is a general term used to describe debilitating discomfort in the pelvic region. Pelvic pain can occur at any time in a woman’s life, frequently causing significant emotional distress and adversely affecting quality of life.
Unfortunately, many women develop chronic pelvic pain, symptoms that persist longer than three months. If chronic pelvic pain is left untreated, additional bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunction may develop. These problems can occur for a number of reasons including a fall, a car accident, or other trauma, as well as childbirth, surgery, radiation, disease processes, inactivity, repeated faulty movement patterns, repeated faulty postures or positions during normal activities.
Brooks Rehabilitation physical therapists specially trained in women’s health can safely and effectively help women who suffer from pelvic pain. If you have concerns about your health or are experiencing pelvic pain, low back pain and/or incontinence, it is important to contact your physician.
