Families, volunteers and health fair vendors enjoyed a Saturday morning full of health, wellness and fun activities at the sixth annual Healthy Start Baby Buggy Walk in the Park on September 7.
Each year, the walk occurs during National Infant Mortality Awareness Month to bring the community together and raise awareness about improving birth outcomes and providing equal access to affordable, quality health care.
The event was held at Klutho Park in the beautiful, historic Springfield area. Yoga 4 Change taught a class in the park; the Jacksonville Public Library promoted literacy through reading activities; and smoothies and healthy recipes were provided at a nutrition station. Kids enjoyed both the face painting and slime making activities.
Participants also had the opportunity to donate blood through OneBlood to help save lives.
Thank you to our Healthy Start Champion sponsor, Ambetter from Sunshine Health. Their goals align with ours to improve the quality of life for families who need it the most to make sure all babies have the same resources and opportunities.
